Seth Shamp has been training Jiu Jitsu for over 20 years, and is a 3rd degree black belt. He received his blue belt from Kyle Saunders, and his purple, brown and black belts, from the legendary Royce Gracie. Seth was deemed a black belt only after undergoing a rigorous testing process over seen by 40 different black belts, a Red Belt, and Royce Gracie himself. Seth is also a registered professor with the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation, and SafeSport training certified.
For 10 years Seth owned and operated the highly successful Triangle Jiu Jitsu Academy in Durham, North Carolina representing Team Royce Gracie. Now, here in Vermont, he brings authentic Gracie Jiu Jitsu to the green mountain state. In addition to owning and operating his academy, he also taught in the Physical Education department at Duke University for 10 years gaining coach of the year honors in 2017.
Seth is a gifted instructor who prioritizes the comfort and safety of his students in order to impart the most effective form of self defense on the planet, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Seth travels the country teaching seminars in colleges, businesses and other martial arts academies, and has gained a reputation for a clear level of instruction, with honest results.
A former college basketball player and high-school stand out, Seth has a natural instinct for competition and competes successfully in Jiu Jitsu tournaments around the country and at the Jiu Jitsu world championships.
In addition to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, in 2006 Seth incorporated kickboxing and mixed martial arts into his training regimen and gained substantial expertise as a mixed martial arts coach. Seth is the proud father of three children - two girls and one boy - who share a similar passion for Jiu Jitsu as Seth.
